LUMARE Won The Ocean Changemakers Challenge 2022

World Ocean Initiative’s Ocean Changemakers Challenge 2022 is a competition supported by Destination Canada that aims to showcase the outstanding changemakers—mainly early-career researchers or professionals—working to develop business solutions to ocean-related sustainability challenges.

They have selected 10 shortlisted candidates from 84 finalised entries among which were chosen the three winning entries:

  • Tom Loefler, CEO, Hullbot

  • Miranda Alldritt, chief business officer, Bioform Technologies

  • Nadia Febina, founder, LUMARE Energi

The three winners were invited to attend a special session at the World Ocean Tech and Innovation Summit in Halifax in October 2022, which LUMARE attended online. To help bring the changemakers’ ideas to life, winners were awarded guidance from three renowned ocean leaders as part of a 12-month mentorship programme. The World Ocean Initiative will report on their progress over the next 12 months.
